Asian Sport for All Federation 14th December 2013, Al Bustan Rotana, Dubai, UAE The first ever meeting for the ASFAF members took place in Dubai on 14th December 2013 and gathered over 8 country representatives across Asia.

The Asian Sport for All Meeting and Seminar, in partnership with Daman, took place on 6-7th June at Al Bustan Rotana, Dubai. The event gathered high level representatives and members from National Olympic Committees and Sport for All Federations from across the Middle East and Asia, including UAE, Qatar, Saudi, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Jordan, Thailand, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, and Bahrain.

country members gathered to discuss some of the biggest challenges in their regions and what programs they are implementing to encourage sport for all and help to overcome these issues.

The Asian Sport for All event started with a closed-door meeting on 6th June, followed by a Seminar and sports afternoon activities on 7th June.

The Asian Sport for All Seminar began with Opening Remarks from Mr.Isa Mohammed Abdulrahim, President of the International Sport for All

Federation from Bahrain and Dr Ahmad Al Sharif, Vice President of the International Sports for All Federation, Dubai who welcomed all delegates.

The morning session opened with a presentation from the partner of the Federation – Daman. Andrew Phillips, Director of Marketing at Daman presented some interesting facts and figures on the region and how sport is such an important part to fight health issues. Daman and the Active Life brand are a perfect fit with the Asian Sport for All Seminar as they share the same objective and align very well with ‘Sport for All’. Both parties are looking at keeping the community healthy and involved in sports.

The Seminar then showcase innovative initiatives in each different country and opened up some very interesting discussion and debate among delegates.

The Asian Sport for All Seminar was supported by FISpT – the International Sport for All Federation, whose purpose is to establish clear guidelines for a Sport for All Strategy – with a new focus on the Asian market. The Federation will help to promote health, education and well-being through sports activities practiced by all categories of the population.

The Asian Sport for All Federation is an excellent initiative to encourage communities to get active through numerous sports activities, workshops, trainings, and events.

The meetings finished with sports activities afternoon, gathering over 100 local participants from all ages, nationalities, and abilities. Participants had fun engaging in many different sports including Dodgeball, Basketball, Street workout, Bubble football and more. The sports activities took place at Al Wasl Sports Club, Dubai, UAE.
